Many ladies are prejudiced against painting in oils; they think it diffcult, dirty, and unhealthy. As to its difficulty, it is nearly as simple, and far more easy to correct when a mistake is made, than watercolour drawing; for while the latter requires the greatest care to keep the lights untouched with the brush, in oils they are laid on, and may be extended and altered at pleasure, or the picture entirely painted out and begun afresh.
