ammonium hydroxide (inorganic material)

The hydroxy salt of ammonium ion, formed when ammonia reacts with water molecules in solution. It is an alkaline solution containing around 28.5% ammonia by weight, highly soluble in water. For solutions containing this substance, use "ammonia water," though usage overlaps because ammonium hydroxide always or almost always exists only in solution.
