98 - Another Green Enamel
As an example, start with 6 lbs of enamel base material. With it, thoroughly mix in 3 oz of well ground Spanish ferretto. lnto this, mix 2 oz of crocus martis. Once these materials are mixed and blended well, put them in a crucible glazed with white glass and leave it [in the furnace] to clarify thoroughly.
Once clarified throw it into water, and return it to the crucible to clarify again. Watch to see if the color appeals to you, so you can concentrate, or dilute it. When you see signs that the color is right, leave it to clarify, and to incorporate the color. Take it out of the furnace as usual. You will have a beautiful green Goldsmith's enamel. Make these furnace enamels into dollops approximately 4 - 6 oz each.
