100 - Black Enamel
Have as an example, 4 lbs of the above said [chapter 93] enamel base material, and 4 oz of the previously described powder, that is to say 2 oz of prepared zaffer, and 2 oz of Piedmont
manganese. Mix these two powders thoroughly and unify them with the above base material.
Once mixed, put them into a crucible glazed with white glass, and leave them to clarify. This material swells quite a bit; therefore, the crucible must be larger so the material will not
erupt out. Once it has clarified, throw it into water, and then return it to the crucible, where it will clarify quickly. Watch to see if the color is satisfactory, or should be made weaker, or stronger according to your needs.
When the enamel is ready, you should make dollops of it as before. It will be a very beautiful velvet black goldsmith's enamel.
