As the depravity of the manner of preparation has also extended itself to the very priming of cloths for grounds of painting, ( a work trusted too neglectfully at present to the care of colourmen), from whence great inconvenience to the painter and detriment to the pictures, are produced, I have subjoined a method, by which those, who are really in earnest about the merit of their performances, may procure cloths to be made without either stiffening, cracking, or causing (as it is called) the colours to sink in: ,,
