Flexible canvas: hard yellow soap dissolved in water, one tenth in bulk to the paint, which may be lamp black, yellow ochre or whiting, ground in strong drying oil; finished with a coat of paint without the soap in the usual mode. - From a recent English work the following: 1 lb. yellow soap, dissolved in 3 quarts of water, mixed hot, with 100 lbs of paint in drying oil, no sizing is used, the soap in part neutralizing the oil. Chas. B. King,King has since tried the preparation of soap alone, in the first place and rubbed in with a hard shoe bruh - next a coat of paint whiting ground in drying oil.
