Dye for white Gownd
2. oz and half of turmeric an oz &1/2 of allum 2 Gallons of
Water give it all a boil up together then put in the Gownd (or
whatever it is & boil it 1/2 an our in the Dye the Gown must be
was clean first & put in wet in every part otherwise will not
take the Dye & after it is Dyed it must be rinced in 2 or 3 waters
those who like a paler or higher colour must proportion the turmeric
accordingly it will Dye any thing that is white or of a light colour
but none others well also pattern things if their is good deal of white
or light gownds the pattern remaining very distant this quantity
of Dye sufficient for a gownd & petticot if for furniture of corse
larger quantity
